Ralph H. Stephens, 64, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Saturday, December 13, 2025, at MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center in Oelwein, Iowa.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa, is assisting the family.
Ralph Harry Stephens was born June 27, 1961, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Robert and Marion (Weise) Stephens. He attended Waterloo Schools. On March 21, 1998, Ralph was united in marriage to Cheryl Hovatter in Waterloo, Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with his son and grandchildren, taking care of the animals, yard work, and snow removal.
Ralph is survived by his son: Brett (Angel) Hovatter of Oelwein, Iowa;
grandchildren: Abbie, Emma and Carter Hovatter of Oelwein, Iowa and
Sierra and Dakota McFarland of Waterloo, Iowa;
sister: Kathy Stephens of Reno, Nevada;
brother: Jim Deweise of Gilbertville, Iowa;
several nieces and nephews and
several great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl, parents, two brothers Ronnie Chimmel and Bill Deweise and grandparents.
