August 13, 1970 – November 22, 2025

Travis Carpenter, 55, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 22, 2025. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and no formal services will be held.

Born in Iowa City on August 13, 1970, Travis was the only son of Jerry Lee and Lovella (Zirbel) Carpenter. He grew up in Mason City, where he wrestled in high school and learned early what hard work looked like. Whether he was hustling through shifts at KFC or putting in hours on the manufacturing line. He spent his life staying active and working with a purpose. Even when diabetes and its complications began to affect his health, his strong work ethic and determination never faded.

He had a lifelong love for Star Wars and the Hulk, collecting pieces that meant something to him—and reacting with genuine heartbreak when the Hulk met his fate on-screen. Beneath his calm and gentle nature was a surprising spark; Travis was kind, but he didn’t back down when something mattered. His compassion ran deep. He had a soft spot for stray cats, often taking them in, and he opened his home more than once to friends who needed a place to land.

Family was the center of his world. He shared a close bond with his mother, grandmother, and his uncles, who weren’t just relatives but lifelong companions—men he viewed as brothers. Travis lived his life with quiet loyalty and a willingness to put others before himself.

He is survived by his mother, Lovella; uncles Earl, Roy “Squeaky,” Michael, and Daniel Hennagir; grandmother Lola Hennagir; and aunt JoAnne Carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Carpenter, and his grandfathers, Glen Zirbel and Roy Hennagir.
