Charitable effort for hurricane victims being organized in Charles City

CHARLES CITY – AMR Ambulance Service of Charles City and the Charles City Fire Department are jointly organizing a donation drive to help with the relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The collection of donations in Charles City has started, items such as bottled water, cleaning supplies, personal care supplies, kids toys, games, puzzles, books, pens, pencils, crayons, stuffed animals, clothes of all sizes newborn to adult, cooking supplies, garbage bags, gift cards from Walmart, Target, HEB grocery store, Visa or MasterCard preloaded gift cards, misc items, over the counter medications like Advil, Benadryl, Tylenol, children’s medication and cash are being accepted.

All donations can be dropped off at the Charles City Fire Department at 704 South Grand Avenue, starting Monday September 4th, from 7:30 AM till 5:00 PM,(after hours please contact the AMR Station Supervisor, Dawn Staudt at 641-220-1683 or Lyle Staudt 641-330-9867, Assistant Fire Chief, Marty Parcher at 641-220-1268 or 641-257-6313. Donations will be accepted until 6 PM, Thursday, September 7th.

Those organizing the donation effort will be leaving for Houston on Friday, September 8th with, hopefully, a full horse trailer, they say.

AMR and Charles City Fire would like to thank everyone in advance for your support and help with this much needed relief effort.
