
OELWEIN – Police stopped a vehicle, leading to an investigation, a Northern Iowa house raid and the discovery of possible meth-dealing suspects that found themselves in handcuffs.
At approximately 11:30 PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 10 block of 2nd Street NW in Oelwein. The search warrant was the result of a continued investigation from a traffic stop earlier in the evening. During the course of the search warrant, illegal controlled substances were located and seized.
The following subjects were arrested and charged:
1) Daniel Warren Wrice, 62 of Oelwein
Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine- Class C Felony
Driving While Barred- Aggravated Misdemeanor
Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs- Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Controlled Substance 1st offense- Marijuana – Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor’

2) Randall Wade Cantrell, 58 of Oelwein
Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd offense- Methamphetamine – Aggravated Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor

The Oelwein Police Department (pictured at top, at the scene, via their department) was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office. The subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance. Additional charges are pending, and these cases are still under investigation.
