November 16, 1953 – October 15, 2025

Michael Joseph Mart, 71, of Raleigh (Estherville), son of George and Dorothy (Weimers) Mart passed away peacefully at his home on the farm on October 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mike will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of family, and his unwavering faith.

Born on November 16, 1953, in Estherville, Iowa. Mike graduated from Terril High School in 1972 with honors. Mike grew up with a deep appreciation for the land and farming-a passion that would shape his life from an early age. Farming wasn’t just his livelihood; it was his calling. He was an active member of NFO alongside his father. He found joy in every aspect of grain and livestock farming and took pride in maintaining the family’s way of life on the farm. His connection to the earth was matched only by his connection to people; Mike had a gift for conversation and rarely met a stranger. Whether you had known him for years or just crossed his path, Mike always had a story to share and an opinion to offer, spoken with brutal honesty and truth.

Mike married the love of his life, Luann Meyer, on December 19, 1980 with whom he shared countless adventures, challenges, and blessings. Together they built a life filled with faith, love, and laughter. As their family grew, Mike cherished every moment with his children-David (Megan), Jackie, Gregory (Amanda), Jennie (Chris) Harris -and later with his grandchildren, Evan and Easton, Tanner, Mackenzie, and Braxton, Patrick, Ella, Harper, and Owen, who were the joy of his life. He could be found on the sidelines at their games, attending school events, or simply teaching them about farm life. His presence was steady, his love unconditional.

In later years, Mike and Luann began spending winters in Florida, finding comfort in the warm weather and new friendships. Even while away from Iowa, Mike stayed connected to his roots, often spending hours watching YouTube videos about other farmers, always eager to learn something new or compare methods. His curiosity and enthusiasm for agriculture never waned.

Faith was a cornerstone of Mike’s life. A dedicated member of the Catholic Church, he lived with conviction, kindness, and gratitude. His faith guided him through hardships and inspired those around him to trust in God’s plan, even in difficult times.

Mike’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shared by so many during his illness. He will be remembered as a man of strong character, generous spirit, and boundless love for family and friends. Mike’s legacy will live on in his family, his farm, and the countless lives he touched through his friendship, faith, and unwavering honesty.

Mike is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister Cheryl Mart, brother Denny (Connie) Mart, and sister-in-law Donna Mart.

He is proceeded in death by his parents George and Dorothy Mart, brother Tom Mart, great nephew Blake Mart, nephew Nathan Mart, and two brothers in infancy.
