Marilyn Jean Wickman, daughter of Gene and Mary (Crouch) Claude, was born June 1, 1938 in West Bend, Iowa. She received her education in West Bend.
On July 17, 1955 Marilyn was united in marriage to Darrel Wickman at the Methodist Church in West Bend. They were blessed with six children. Darrel and Marilyn made their home for many years in Rodman. Later they moved to West Bend and Havelock, before moving to Emmetsburg.
Marilyn cooked for many years at the Rodman School. She had also worked at the Appliance Store at the Ridotto Corner, helped with the lunch wagon at auctions and events and the Mallard restaurant. Marilyn also was employed at S.N.C. and Food Pride where she worked in the deli.
Marilyn attended Grace Church in Emmetsburg.
Marilyn loved watching her sons and grandsons at the races. She enjoyed crocheting, making gifts for family and friends. She was a great cook and baker and will be remembered for her “famous Scotcheroos”, cream filled cupcakes, banana bread and cookies. Marilyn cherished her friendship with John Davis and their travels together. She liked staying up-to-date with her high school friends and spending time with her friend, Sis.
Marilyn passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 at her home in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrel; siblings, Opal Dillon, Della Haugland and Donny Claude; two daughters, Judy Hubbell and Deb Nissen; daughter-in-law, Dawn Shonkwiler; infant great grandson, Trevor James Wickman.
She is survived by her children, Dean Wickman of Wallingford, Iowa, Bruce (Maria) Wickman of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Jim (Deb) Wickman of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Dave (Kelly) Wickman of Emmetsburg, Iowa; son-in-law, Jim Nissen of Emmetsburg, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; dear friend, John Davis of Emmetsburg, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Marvella Wickman of Green Valley, Arizona and John Wickman of Central City, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
