WHITTEMORE, IOWA – Carnie combat at a Northern Iowa celebration drew cops to this tiny hamlet to separate the brawlers, leading to the arrest of a Florida man on serious charges.
On May 24, 2025, at about 10:43 PM, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible fight near 5th Street and Broad Street in Whittemore, Iowa. The incident involved two workers employed by the carnival – commonly referred to as carnies – that was in town for the celebration. After gathering statements and information, deputies arrested and charged the following suspect that allegedly initiated the altercation:
Jeramie Harmon, age 38, of Jacksonville, Florida. He was transported to the Kossuth county jail and charged with:
• Burglary 1st Degree, a Class B Felony
• Disorderly Conduct, a Simple Misdemeanor
• Public Intoxication Simple, a Simple Misdemeanor
Harmon was charged with the Class B Felony because he entered an occupied structure with the intent to cause a bodily injury against another person.
Whittemore and Kossuth County EMS assisted the sheriff’s office with the call.
Harmon remains behind bars as he awaits a June 6 preliminary hearing.
