CHARLES CITY – This Nora Springs woman with a history of trouble found herself in a Charles City street and blocking the roadway, leading to her arrest.
According to Charles City police, the incident took place on the evening of May 13, 2025. At 6:34 PM, officers with the Charles City police department were called to the 1400 block of Clark Street on a report of subject in the roadway. After an investigation, officers arrested 41-year-old Maggie Swanson-Cero of Nora Springs, on a charge of disorderly conduct – obstructing a roadway. Swanson-Cero was jailed and soon released, as she awaits a June 2 preliminary hearing.
Swanson-Cero had been arrested days earlier after an allegedly violent incident. Records show Mason City police arrested Swanson-Cero on a charge of assault – fear of immediate contact, after an incident on May 8. She now awaits a non-jury trial on the morning of May 28.
To make matters even more complicated for Swanson-Cero, on May 13 in Floyd county court, a male filed a civil action, “Petition for Relief from Domestic Abuse” against her, and a judge filed a protective order. She will face a hearing on that matter on the morning of May 27.
NIT earlier reported that Swanson-Cero had been involved in a disturbance last summer that led to her arrest.
