Phil Sanchez Opinion: Big corporations “refuse to share the wealth with those who helped make it” leading to strikes

Phil Sanchez of Mason City

To the Editor,

A resurgence of union activity and labor strikes is sweeping across our nation. The UAW’s 10,000 workers at John Deere have become the latest union to strike seeking better wages and trying to address the elimination of healthcare for retirees proposed by the company. The BCTGM workers at Kellogg have also walked off the job protesting a brutal 7 day a week work schedule and discontinued pensions for new workers. Kellogg continues to threaten to send jobs to Mexico, an ugly tactic of coercion, and blackmail. Companies like John Deere and Kellogg continue to put profit over people. John Deere is on track to make $6 billion this year. The UAW is angered that Deere would refuse to share the wealth with those who helped make it. Strikes are not taken lightly by any union, it is a course of last resort. Naked capitalism can be a brutal and oppressive economic system at times. Unions are the equalizer that help American workers achieve dignity, respect and a voice on the job. Labor rights at their core are in essence human rights. When union negotiators sit down at the bargaining table, they represent more than just the workforce. Negotiations are holistic in nature, impacting spouses, sons, daughters, and the community at large. Gains made at the bargaining table will help lift all workers. Labor sets the standard in pay, healthcare, working hours, and safety. Record company profits should equate to workers also reaping the benefits, not just stockholders and CEO’s. Kellogg which also has had record profits and strong cash flow, plans to bring in non-union workers to keep production going, pitting American workers against one another. Union workers praised during the pandemic, are now being asked to make deep concessions. Kellogg also wants to reduce healthcare and eliminate some holidays. According to Cornell University’s labor tracker there are 257 ongoing strikes in the U.S. The strikes are diverse, ranging from police unions to Chipotle Mexican Grill workers. Our nation should rally behind these employees who seek a fair and equitable labor agreement. Labor embraces a mantra that optimizes their struggle and unity for all impacted, “united we bargain, divided we beg” The fight for worker justice is uniquely infinite!

The problem is that these Antifa idiots have no clue what NAZI even is. If they did they would see they are the closest thing to it. A bunch of trust fund white socialist fools who get disgruntled black kids to do there bidding.

antifa IS what they supposedly fight against. They are the modern day BROWN SHIRTS of NAZI Germany in AMERICA. You won’t find that kind of shit around here because a frozen water bottle thrown at my head would result in my second amendment right to protect myself.

Gawd you are stupid. Anti-fa means anti (or against for you low information idiots) fascism. You must be for fascism which doesn’t surprise me coming from a trumpie.

We say its time to revoke senor Sanchez green card, send him back to Mexico.

Typical smooth-brained racist comment from an inbred Trumper who also fondles and suckles Blodgett Balls. Go back to Germany – NAZI

Hahaha yes the government workers …..

37% approve of Joe Biden !!! Who the HELL is that !!! It’s either the illiterate or the illiterate who are teaching the illiterate.

Democrats are their own worst enemy.

THE WHOLE DEMOCRAT PARTY IS OFF THE RAILS!

If you’re a union proponent, remember…unions are a very big reason why the device you are looking at right now says “Made In CHINA” somewhere on it.

Welcome to the world of Democratic politics.

Wealthy people are just like corporations.

Do they create jobs?

Phillip hates AMERICA as we know it in my opinion. His union is weak and sold out to the company. He’s basically been given everything he has by the people of AMERICA.All he does is constantly complain and try to get illegal immigrants into the country. I remember MOLLIE TIBBETTS and how she was gutted like a fish by a illegal immigrant. Her body left in a cornfield. Illegal immigrants are destroying the country. Raping women, beating up women and in some cases murdering women. Look at all the drugs illegals immigrants bring into the country. Phillip should return to mexico and help the Mexican people have a better life.

You are stupid.

Hate the truth?

Racist MF!!!!

Wow pure Democratic/lib response…how many aliens have you taken in?

On top of that they have ruined the school systems !!!!

STUPID UNION FOOLS !!
They keep voting for democrats and in return they keep letting in illegals for Soros and the Koch brothers cheap labor.

assnonymous, if it wasn’t for unions you would never make over $7.00, work 10 hrs a day 7 days a week with no benefits. oops, maybe you do now, should have paid attention in school.

l did and stayed out of the union. Haven’t missed a day of work and paid well

Well good for you, if you think Yes Way pays well.

Been working there how long? A week? Good for you. Now get a real job.

Apparently neither of you people have ever had a good job without someone taking your money (dues)

I had a really good job and still do. I gladly pay my dues because I know where I would be if there wasn’t a union. I would be ‘let go’ because I am reaching the age where the company figures it can hire a new guy, divide the job duties the new hire can’t do among the other people who already have enough work to do. I can’t forget adding a six figure bump for the guy in charge because he saved the company a couple thousand by getting rid of me. Give the state a few more years of Republican rule and companies will be able to fire you 2 hours before you earn a full pension. I choose the side that is really for the workers.

Welcome to the world of Democratic politics..

Unions bankrupt Detroit. Let’s see if they can chase other industries to foreign countries.

I don’t think so. Where did you hear that, main stream media fake news?

in the 70’s don’t remember his name or political affiliation

So basically you’re spewing BULL SHIT!!!

that means l must be a Democrat or Lib

Democrats are their own worst enemy..

A simple Google search can tell you the majority of auto parts are made or produced outside of the US. The japs assemble here. All because they went bankrupt trying to keep the unions happy.

Hordes of “undocumented” laborers are what is keeping wages depressed in the USA. Why pay a White American a fair wage when you can hire some wetback scab for $7.25 an hour? Shutdown immigration from brown countries. Expel the foreign hordes. Gas the jews. Make America Great Again. Trump 2024!

The number one job of the President is protecting the country from foreign enemies. These undocumented, illegal, aliens, migrants, immigrants are entering this country without permission, without proof of vaccinations ( not just against Covid-19 but other illnesses from their host country).
We have a right to regulate who comes into America and who leaves.

The media is supported by the left. That’s why all news sources including this one, never reports on anything the left doesn’t do, regardless. Transparency doesn’t exist. You can delete this if you have no balls, believe CRT as gospel and like gay men.

You are pretty transparent. Your last line shows you don’t like women (don’t like people with no balls), hate minorities and true history makes you feel bad (anti-CRT), and you are homophobic (gay men make you uncomfortable).

Typical lib..make everything fit your agenda
PS l understood what he meant

OUCH!!!!!!!!
