RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY –  Texas truck driver allegedly blew through a stop sign at a  rural Cerro Gordo county location and struck a Clear Lake man’s vehicle, sending him to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

According to the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, on March 31, 2025, at 7:56 AM, they responded to 310th Street and Eagle Avenue for a two-vehicle crash.  A 2016 Freightliner truck driven by 31-year-old George Maranga of Arlington, Texas failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection.  The truck struck a southbound 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, operated by 60-year-old Daniel Murphy of Clear Lake.   Murphy sustained minor injury and was taken to MercyOne North Iowa by private vehicle for treatment.

Maranga was cited for failing to stop at the stop sign.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.
