Gary Lee Hanson, 82, of Mason City, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society, Forest City, Iowa.
Per Gary’s wishes his body will be cremated and no services will be held.
Gary Hanson was born on December 31, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, to Wilbur Carlton Hanson and Lovella Mae (Frogge) Hanson. He grew up in Clear Lake, where he attended school. In his early years, Gary moved to Colorado and began a lifelong career as a semi-truck driver, often traveling cross-country on long hauls. Later in life, he returned to Mason City, Iowa, where he continued to call home until his health declined.
Gary is survived by eight children; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Sharon (Jack) Kloster of Mason City, IA and Marsha Vrtiska of Grand Junction, CO; as well as other extended family members.
Gary is preceded in death by his son, Jeff Hanson; both of his parents; and brother-in-law, Greg Vrtiska.
