CLIVE, IOWA – It is vital to keep your identity secure, as an Iowa resident found out after this pair from Michigan had themselves a shopping spree at the victim’s expense.

On January 9, 2025, two individuals fraudulently used multiple credit cards that were opened using the identity of a Clive, Iowa, resident. Preliminary investigation and leads developed through cooperation with local retail stores suggest that the suspects are from Michigan and traveled to Iowa specifically to use the credit cards opened in the victim’s name.

Police say this is not the first time an Iowa resident was the victim of identity theft, and in another similar case, two individuals from Michigan drove to Iowa and went on a shopping spree using fraudulently obtained credit cards.

“We are committed to identifying these individuals and bringing them to justice,” police say, and they continue to hunt for the suspects (pictured at top, via police).
