Barred Northern Iowa couple battle cops, nabbed with meth

OELWEIN, IOWA - A Northern Iowa couple whose romance is banned by the courts was caught sneaking around together and when cops tried to intervene, things got testy as justice was delivered.

OELWEIN, IOWA – A Northern Iowa couple whose romance is banned by the courts was caught sneaking around together and when cops tried to intervene, things got testy as justice was delivered.

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 9:30 PM, a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of 2nd Street SE in Oelwein, Iowa. During the investigation, one of the passengers, 34-year-old Michael Wiliam Bushaw of Oelwein, resisted law enforcement and was detained. Bushaw was found to have illegal substances on his person. Further investigation showed the driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Chelsea Leann Hersh of Waterloo, and Bushaw had a valid no-contact order.

Bushaw (pictured at top) was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

– Possession of a Controlled substance 3rd Offense-Methamphetamine, a class D Felony

– Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense- Cannabidiol, a serious misdemeanor

– Violation of a no-contact order, a simple misdemeanors

– Interference with Official Acts, a simple misdemeanors

– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanors

Hersh (pictured at top) was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

– Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense-Methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor

– Violation of a no-contact order, a simple misdemeanor

Hersh and Bushaw were taken into custody, and transported to Fayette County Jail, where they awaited initial appearance.
