INDEPENDENCE, IOWA – Law enforcement in this Northern Iowa county announced numerous recent arrests for week of January 5-11, 2025.
On Sunday, January 05, 2025 at approximately 8:35 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jonathan Harold Vanroekel, 55, of Pine Bluff, AR. Vanroekel was charged with Driving While License Suspended (simple misdemeanor) and cited for Operation without Registration Plate and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 1900 block Third Avenue SE in Independence.
On Monday, January 06, 2025 at approximately 12:25 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Dionicio Jacinto Chavez Raymundo, 25, of Cedar Rapids. Chavez Raymundo was charged with Driving While License Suspended (simple misdemeanor) and cited for Open Container, Speed Violation and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance. Chavez Raymundo was also arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Henry County for Failure to Appear. This arrest was made following a traffic stop near the 54 mile marker of I380.
On Monday, January 06, 2025 at approximately 4:30 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Karma Corrine Butters, 23, of Oelwein. Butters was arrested on active arrest warrants out of Buchanan County for original charges of Child Endangerment (aggravated misdemeanor), second offense Possession of Controlled Substance (aggravated misdemeanor), Keeping Vehicle or Premise for Controlled Substance Usage (aggravated misdemeanor), Prescription Drug Violation (serious misdemeanor), second offense Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). These charges stem from a drug related investigation in the 300 block W Hayes Street in Hazleton on September 16, 2024.
On Monday, January 06, 2025 at approximately 6:30 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Emma Rose Butters 19, of Oelwein. Butters was arrested on active arrest warrants out of Buchanan County for original charges of Child Endangerment (aggravated misdemeanor), Keeping Vehicle or Premise for Controlled Substance Usage (aggravated misdemeanor), second offense Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). These charges stem from a drug related investigation in the 300 block W Hayes Street in Hazleton on September 16, 2024.
On Monday, January 06, 2025 at approximately 8:30 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Connor Lee Rawlins, 19, of Independence. Rawlins was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for Probation Violation. This arrest was made in the 1500 block Lawrence Avenue.
On Monday, January 06, 2025 at approximately 10:00 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Mateo Tomas Croux, 25, of Oelwein. Croux was arrested on active arrest warrants out of Buchanan County for original charges of Child Endangerment (aggravated misdemeanor), second offense Possession of Controlled Substance (aggravated misdemeanor), Keeping Vehicle or Premise for Controlled Substance Usage (aggravated misdemeanor), Prescription Drug Violation (serious misdemeanor), second offense Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). On Monday, January 06, 2025 at approximately 10:30 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jerald William Birchard, 64, of Fairbank. Birchard was charged with first offense Operating While Intoxicated (serious misdemeanor) and Public Intoxication (simple misdemeanor). This arrest was made following an incident n the 100 block Fourth Street S in Fairbank.
On Tuesday, January 07, 2025 at approximately 6:40 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Alyssa Mae Dague, 24, of Oelwein. Dague was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for Failure to Appear and held at the Buchanan County Jail.
On Wednesday, January 08, 2025 at approximately 7:30 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Kyle James Koopman, 33, of Jesup. Koopman was charged with Sex Offender Registry Violation (aggravated misdemeanor) and held at the Buchanan County Jail.
On Friday, January 10, 2025 at approximately 10:55 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Leigh Ann Moyer, 59, of Janesville. Moyer was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for Failure to Appear and held at the Buchanan County Jail.
