CHARLES CITY – Police were called to a location in Charles City when a troubled woman was violating a no-contact order and behaving violently, resulting in her arrest.

According to Charles City police, the incident took place on Sunday, December 15, 2024. At 5:30 PM that evening, officers were called to the 900 block of Gilbert Street for a disturbance. Allegedly, a woman was violating a court-ordered no-contact order against her. Officers arrived and investigated, and as a result, found that 57-year-old Monica Irene Brown of Charles City was behaving violently, committed an assault and was trespassing at the location. They attempted to arrest her, but she didn’t go quietly. Brown was ultimately taken to jail on the following charges:

– VIOLATION OF A NO CONTACT ORDER (TWO COUNTS)

– TRESPASSING

– ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY INJURY

– INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS

Brown remains held in the Floyd county jail, awaiting court appearances.

Brown (pictured at top) was nabbed by Mason City police back in 2021 for interference and was ordered ti pay $600.89 to Iowa courts and still owes the entire balance.  Last year, she was accused of indecent exposure, domestic abuse, and other crimes in Floyd county and ended up on probation.  She was ordered to pay a whopping $2,453.00 in that case and is still not fully caught up.  Right now, she is accused of violating her probation which could result in further incarceration.

NIT earlier reported that Brown found herself in big trouble on March 27, 2024, in Charles City.  She was charged with felony first-degree burglary and criminal mischief.  Ultimately, she got 45 days in jail and was again ordered to pay a big sum to Iowa courts, totaling $1,232.75.
