Iowa law enforcement nab Chicago man for attempted murder

AMES – Police in Ames, Iowa, were called after a female was shot in the upper body and they soon zeroed in on a suspect out of the Windy City, nabbing him for attempted murder.

On November 20, 2024, at 2:53 PM, the Ames Police Department received a report of a shooting in the parking lot of the 4700 block of Mortensen Road. Officers located a female who was shot in the upper body. The female was transported to MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. Her current medical status is unknown, according to police. The suspect was apprehended in the 4500 block of Mortensen Road at 3:16 PM.

The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Lyndon N. Dembry (pictured at top) of Chicago, Illinois. He has been charged with the following:

• Attempted Murder, a class B felony

• Dominion and Control of a Firearm by a Felon, a class D felony

• Domestic Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon- an aggravated misdemeanor

Dembry remains jailed, awaiting court appearances.
