MASON CITY – An early morning call for help led police to a Mason City apartment to sort out an apparently violent incident.

According to records, Mason City police went to 409 South Kentucky Avenue at 4:14 AM on September 5, 2024, in response to a report of a physical domestic. After an investigation police found enough evidence to arrest 28-year-old George Lopez on the following charges:

– DOMESTIC ABUSE ASSAULT IMPEDING AIR/BLOOD FLOW CAUSING BODILY INJURY – CLASS D FELONY

– HARASSMENT – 1ST DEGREE – AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOR

– FALSE IMPRISONMENT – SERIOUS MISDEMEANOR

Lopez (pictured at top) was taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail and booked in at 4:59 AM. He has been held there since then, as he attempts to get his bond lowered from $8,000. He is awaiting a September 13 court appearance, and a judge imposed a no-contact order in the matter.
