LINCOLN, NE – A double-digit 4th quarter lead for the Iowa Hawkeyes evaporated in Lincoln today as the Nebraska Cornhuskers held Caitlin Clark scoreless as she closed in on the all-time scoring record.
Nebraska (16-8, 8-5) defeated No. 2 Iowa (22-3, 11-2) 82-79, inside a sold-out Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon.
National Player of the Year candidate, Caitlin Clark, became the first Division-I men’s or women’s player to record 3,300+ points, 1,000+ assists, and 850+ rebounds in a career.
Since assists were tracked in 1985-86, Clark became the sixth women’s college basketball player to record 1,000 dimes in a career.
Clark is eight points from Kelsey Plum’s NCAA all-time scoring record.
Hannah Stuelke notched her 15th game of the season in double figures.
Stuelke has netted 10+ points in 26 career games.
Kate Martin has registered double figures in 17 of the last 21 contests.
Martin has recorded 20+ points twice this season.
Clark recorded 31 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds in today’s action.
It was her 57th career double-double which is good for fifth on the Big Ten’s all-time list.
Clark is the only player in the country with 750+ points, 175+ assists, and 150+ rebounds this season.
Only nine of Clark’s 125 career games have come against Nebraska (7.2%), she’s exploded for at least 30 points in all nine games.
Clark has 59 career games with 25+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ rebounds.
Furthermore, Clark has recorded 25+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ rebounds in 17 out of the last 19 contests.
Iowa has officially broken an attendance record or sold-out away from Carver-Hawkeye Arena in 30-of-32 games this season.
It was Clark’s 52nd career game with 30+ points in her career, the most in men’s or women’s college basketball history over the last 25 seasons.
Clark has scored 20+ points in 110-of-125 career games which is the most in program history.
