FORT DODGE – Police found a man in Fort Dodge shot multiple times, causing his death, and now they have arrested the son for murder.
On Sunday, October 1, 2023, at approximately 8:42 PM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of someone being shot in the 200 Block of 3rd Ave. N.W. Multiple officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded.
When officers arrived on scene, they located one unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers began life-saving efforts on the male, until medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department arrived. The male was ultimately pronounced deceased on scene. Investigators worked to determine exactly what took place that evening, to include exploring all avenues as to how this incident unfolded.
The deceased male victim from the shooting has been identified as 44-year-old Jason A. Ruffridge of Fort Dodge. Investigators continued to follow up on this case and encourage anyone with information to reach out to the Fort Dodge Police Department.
Over the past few days, investigators have continued to gather information, speak to witnesses, and follow up on all leads. As a result of the investigation thus far, 20‐year‐old Olnario A. Rodriguez‐Ruffridge (pictured at top in jail photo) of Fort Dodge has been arrested on a charge of first-degree murder, a class A felony. Olnario is reportedly the son of the deceased.
