CHARLES CITY – A house fire in Charles City last night evacuated residents and was contained to the furnace in the basement.
On October 10, 2023, at 11:45 PM, the Charles City Fire Department received a page alerting to a furnace on fire located on the 1200 block of D Street. Officers on scene reported all individuals were out of the residence and there was smoke throughout the structure.
Upon arrival, firefighters made entry, cleared the residence to ensure no one was left inside, and made their way to the basement. The fire was contained to the furnace and did not spread to the rest of the basement.
Assistance was also provided by the Charles City Police Department, AMR, Floyd Fire, Cowell Fire, and Floyd County Search and Rescue.
