Iowa “Sexual Predator” serving over 100 years in prison dies from Covid-19

IOWA CITY – An Iowa “Sexual Predator” serving over 100 years in prison died from Covid-19 and other bad health ailments, officials say.

Robert William Sirovy was pronounced dead, likely due to complications related to COVID-19 and other preexisting medical conditions at approximately 8:02 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He had been transported there recently from the Anamosa State Penitentiary due to his declining health. Sirovy was 64 years old at the time of his death.

Sirovy had been incarcerated for multiple convictions of violation of Iowa Code 901A.2(3), Sexual Predator with Prior Convictions and Enhancements from Mahaska County. His sentence began on October 20, 2006, and his discharge date would have been December 14, 2132.

At his trial, he reportedly called himself a “victim”.

“I still claim my innocence,” he reportedly said. “I’ve never touched a family member in my life.”
