College Football: Iowa State defeats Oklahoma State, 34-27

AMES – The Iowa State offense loaded up big plays behind 348 yards of passing from quarterback Rocco Becht to get a much-needed Big 12 Conference win over Oklahoma State on Saturday, 34-27.

TEAM NOTES

*Attendance: 59,022
*Matt Campbell is now 48-43 at Iowa State and 83-58 overall as a head coach.
*Campbell is now 33-31 against league opponents, the most league wins by an ISU coach in school history.
*Iowa State is 10-3 all-time in the all-black uniforms, including a 9-2 record at Jack Trice Stadium.
*OSU leads the all-time series 34-21-3 and 15-14-1 in Ames.
*The last nine meetings have all been decided by one score.
*Iowa State’s streak of holding 18-straight opponents under 400 yards of total offense, the longest streak in the nation, ended with OSU tallying 409 yards.

Rocco Becht

*Has passed for at least one touchdown in his first four career starts.
*Third player in school history (Brock Purdy – 2018, 2019 & 2021; Jared Barnett – 2011) with over 300 yards passing against Oklahoma State. *Tallied career-highs in completions (27) and passing yards (348).
*Joins Brock Purdy (2018 vs. WVU) and Kyle Kempt (2017 vs. Oklahoma) as quarterbacks under Campbell to win their first career Big 12 start. *His seven passing touchdowns this season are the fifth-most in school history by a freshman.

Eli Sanders

*His seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was his first career rushing touchdown. *Finished with a career-high 15 carries.

Jaylin Noel

*Has caught a pass in 23-straight games, tied for the sixth-longest streak in school history. *Finished with career-highs in receptions (tied at eight) and yards (146).
*His 146 receiving yards is the most against Oklahoma State in school history.

Daniel Jackson

*His 29-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter was his first career touchdown reception. *Finished with a career-high in receptions (six) and yards (90).
*First Cyclone with two touchdown receptions in a game since Jaylin Noel against Texas last season.

Jayden Higgins

*Recorded his 100th career reception.

J.R. Singleton

*His fourth quarter sack for a loss of 17 yards was his first career sack.
