Curve in road sends speeding Iowa teen’s vehicle into ditch, suffers injuries and ticket from cops

RURAL CLEAR LAKE - An Iowa teen failed to negotiate a curve in the road near Clear Lake, sending her Subaru Baja into a ditch on its top.

RURAL CLEAR LAKE – An Iowa teen failed to negotiate a curve in the road near Clear Lake, sending her Subaru Baja into a ditch on its top.

On September 2, 2023, at approximately 6:30 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Eagle Avenue and 270th Street in Cerro Gordo County. Sophie Ann Boehmler, age 16 of Sumner, Iowa, was operating a blue 2005 Subaru Baja Turbo when her she lost control of the vehicle due to speed and trying to negotiate a curve, over corrected, entered the ditch and rolled.

The driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and was also cited for failure to maintain control.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Clear Lake Fire Medics and the Iowa State Patrol.
