RURAL MASON CITY – An early morning auto accident resulted in a Clear Lake woman’s Toyota in a ditch and a citation from police.

On August 30, 2023 at around 5:24 AM, Cerro Gordo county dispatch received a call in reference to a vehicle in a field near the intersection of 255th Street and Lark Avenue near Mason City. Upon investigation it was found that a 2014 Blue Toyota Corolla left the roadway and overturned during the process. The driver of the vehicle, Carelynn Reyo, age 25 of Clear Lake, left the scene and later returned. A search in the immediate vicinity did not locate any other occupants of the vehicle. Reyo was traveling westbound on 255th Street when she swerved to avoid an animal. This caused her to leave the roadway and come to rest in the ditch. Reyo was checked out by Mason City Fire Department for minor injuries sustained in the collision, but declined further medical treatment.

Reyo was cited for failure to maintain control.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Police Department, the Mason City Fire Department and the Clear Lake Police Department.
