Hanlontown man hurt in Emmet county auto crash

EMMET COUNTY – A recent two-vehicle crash Northwest of Estherville resulted in two people being hospitalized.

According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, the Emmet County Communications Center received a 911 call at 6:26 pm on August 2, where the caller reported a two-vehicle accident with air bag deployment at the intersection of 340th Avenue and 150th Street in Emmet County.

Upon arrival of emergency personnel, it was determined that a westbound 2024 Ford Flex driven by Dina Diamanti age (40) of Bigelow, Minnesota entered the roadway into the path of a Northbound 1998 Buick Century driven by Jason Bauer age (19) of Hanlontown, Iowa.

Both vehicles left the roadway into the adjacent ditch. Diamanti was extricated from her vehicle by the Estherville Fire and Rescue’s “Jaws of Life.”

Diamanti was transported to the Lakes Regional Hospital for treatment of her injuries while Bauer was transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville both being treated for non-life-threatening injuries by the Estherville Ambulance Service.

Also responding to the scene were: the Iowa State Patrol, Superior Fire Department, Milford Rescue, Emmet County Emergency Management and Estherville Police Department.

The accident remains under investigation by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol.
