IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa is involved in an investigation into possible online betting involving student athletes at this time.
Over two dozen current athletes from sports ranging from football, men’s basketball, wrestling, baseball and more are possibly involved in this investigation, according to multiple reports, and possibly employees of the university. Details about the investigation, or even a statement, were non-existent on the university’s web site.
The Board of Regents released a statement, saying the board is aware of concerns related to online gambling involving individuals associated with the University of Iowa.
“The Board of Regents and the universities will fully cooperate with any investigations related to these concerns. We are closely monitoring the situation and have confidence that University administrators at each institution will take all necessary steps to ensure ongoing compliance.”
