Howard Franklin Gast, 81, formerly of Nora Springs, IA, passed away April 30, 2023, at the Sheffield Care Center in Sheffield, IA.
The family will be holding a private graveside service per his final wishes.
Howard was born October 12, 1941, in Mason City, IA, son of Truman and Ruth (Martin) Gast. He grew up in Nora Springs and graduated from high school there with the class of 1960. After high school, he worked at Decker Packing House in Mason City. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting as well as traveling to Wyoming and Montana. He also enjoyed attending the horse shows; playing pool, and watching football with his sons.
Howard is survived by his son, Kevin (Brenda) Gast; grandchildren, Chelsea (Brandon) Weiland, Logan (Fiance, Kaylee) Gast; great grandchildren, Riata, Lola, and Quinn Weiland, and Raelyn and Levi Gast.
Howard was preceded in death by his son, James Gast; and parents, Truman and Ruth.
