Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 3-5PM at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Greene followed by a Rosary Service at 5PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30AM on Monday, April 24, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Greene. Private family burial will immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the church. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Greene is caring for Earl and his family.

He was born to Leo and Laura (Osier) Frascht on April 19, 1938. He was the sixth of their ten children. He was raised on the family farm near Marble Rock. Earl graduated from Marble Rock High School. He enjoyed participating in baseball, basketball and taking part in school plays.

Earl had his first dance with Shirley Joan Bauer at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. They were married on November 29, 1958, and have been dancing together for the past 64 years. They grew their family, welcoming 8 children into their home over 10 years: Rhonda, Rodney, Rick, Terry, Todd, Roxanne, Tina, Matthew. When asked to describe their father, they shared he was faithful, steadfast, strong, loving, the ‘rock’ of the family, inspiring, wise, devoted.

Earl cherished being a lifelong farmer. Over the years he was also employed by Stanton Livestock and Rottler Farms.

Earl was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greene and the Knights of Columbus. He was dedicated to helping at the St. Mary River Days Brat Tent every summer and at the annual Fall Festival at the church. He spent many years serving on the St. Mary’s Parish Council. It was a special honor for him to escort Father Brunkan to his church duties every Saturday night. It was his privilege to give of his time to support others in these ways.

He enjoyed golf, playing in couples’ tournaments with Joan and in league. Every summer he looked forward to playing in the Round Grove Country Club 3-man golf tournament, making 2 complete teams with his 5 sons. Most important to him was time spent together making memories with his loving family.

Earl was diagnosed with cardiac amyloidosis in 2019 and despite the difficult medical challenges he faced, he continued to devote his life to fulfilling his wedding vows, caring for Joan in sickness and in health.
