RURAL EMMET COUNTY – A single vehicle traffic accident Saturday morning claimed the life of an Alabama man in rural Emmet County.
According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 8:08 am from a motorist reporting that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree in the 4100 block of Highway 9 in Emmet County. Upon investigation at the scene the driver 70 year told Davies Sanders of Theodore, Alabama was found entrapped in the vehicle. The Estherville Fire Department was able to extricate Sanders from the vehicle using the “Jaws of Life.”
Sanders was transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital by the Estherville Ambulance Service where he later died of his injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and Emmet County Medical Examiner’s Office.
