Gov. Reynolds issues statement on EPA Administrator Pruitt’s resignation

Kim Reynolds

DES MOINES – Controversial Environmental Protection Agency Director Scott Pruitt has resigned, and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds wants his replacement to promote renewable fuels.

Thursday, President Donald J. Tump tweeted that he has “accepted the resignation of Scott Pruitt as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Within the Agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this. The Senate confirmed Deputy at EPA, Andrew Wheeler, will……on Monday assume duties as the acting Administrator of the EPA. I have no doubt that Andy will continue on with our great and lasting EPA agenda. We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright!”

After the resignation was announced, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds issued the following statement:

“Today’s resignation from Administrator Pruitt must result in new EPA leadership that will honor the president’s commitment to the Renewable Fuel Standard.

“I will continue to fight for a robust Renewable Fuel Standard by working with our federal delegation in Washington, D.C., to hold the administration to this promise. Iowa farmers deserve nothing less.”

Pruitt had been under firer lavish flights and trips and other perks that flew in the face of the “drain the swamp” catchphrase President Trump had been promoting.  He had also not been supportive of Renewable Fuel Standards that Midwestern leaders had sought.

Hey Kim, what are you going to do when the next head of the EPA doesn’t support renewable fuels?

Hey bodacious, what are you going to do when the next head of the EPA does support renewable fuels? And why do you want him to not support renewable fuels?

I do want him (or her) to support renewable fuels. That is important for our state. But Trump isn’t a fan of renewable fuel and his first hire – Pruitt – was a crook, a thief, and a liar. But Donny says he was a good man who did great things in the EPA. So the next one will probably be the same.
