Northwood woman dead after car leaves road, crashes into building

WORTH COUNTY – A Northwood woman died after her car left Highway 65 and crashed into a building.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident took place Friday night, March 12, 2021 on Highway 65 just north of Northwood in Worth county. The patrol says that at about 9:30 PM that evening, 37-year-old Michelle Marie Runde of Northwood was traveling north on Highway 65 near 4840 Olive Avenue when her 2016 Dodge Charger left the roadway, traveled through a field and entered or collided with a a machine shed. Runde, whom the patrol says was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol Was Assisted By Worth Co Sheriffs Office, Northwood Fire And Mason City Fire.
