Audit of Mason City’s City expenses released

MASON CITY – An audit of Mason City’s City expenses was released this week.

Kronlage & Olson, P.C., Certified Public Accountants released an audit report on the City of Mason City for the year ended June 30, 2020.

The City’s revenues totaled $55,153,300 and included $24,909,185 of property and other taxes; $6,792,245 in federal and state funds; $20,316,890 of charges for services; and $1,374,423 of uses of money and property.

Expenses for the year totaled $68,151,909 and included $10,424,238 for public safety; $4,034,783 for public works; $372,354 for health and social services; $3,323,169 for culture and recreation; $2,291,716 for community and economic development; $3,087,109 for general government; $4,536,215 for debt service; $22,022,560 for capital projects; and $18,059,765 for business-type activities.

A copy of the audit report is available for review in the Office of Auditor of State and the City Clerk’s office.

  1. I wouldnt last long nor be considered a genius if I made 55 million and spent 68 million, sounds like Finance isnt doing so good
