CEDAR RAPIDS – The Cedar Rapids Police Department was notified at 2:42 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23 of a shooting incident at 208 7th Street SW.
Officers arrived on scene to find a 4-year old male who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Officers and other first responders provided emergency medical care. The victim was transported to UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital and subsequently transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the shooting incident appears to be unintentional. There is an active, ongoing investigation.
