Mason City’s MacNider Museum receives $50,000 gift from late Margaret MacNider

MASON CITY – The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum Foundation gratefully acknowledges the generous gift of $50,000 from Margaret MacNider, who died on September 19, 2018. In addition to this bequest, the Museum received several gifts in her memory.

Margaret MacNider was a dynamic individual who believed deeply in the mission of the MacNider Museum. Her volunteerism took on many forms over the years – from Board of Trustee member to volunteer for the decorating for the annual Holiday Open House. Margaret understood the Museum’s importance to the North Iowa community and the need for funding its future. The very origin, growth and success of the museum which proudly bears her family’s its name would not have been possible without the vision and generosity of the MacNider Family.

The MacNider Art Museum Foundation is a private 501c3 agency whose sole purpose is to support the operations of the Charles H. MacNider Museum. The Museum receives approximately one-half of it’s funding from the City of Mason City, and must find other funding sources such as grants, donations, memberships, classes, and its foundation for the remainder. Inspired by the example of the MacNiders, and in tribute to Margaret, the Foundation will continue to provide critical support to the Museum for the great work that lies before us.

The Museum is free and open to the public Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. It is located at 303 2nd Street SE, Mason City, Iowa.
