Law enforcement investigates shootings in Fort Dodge

gunFORT DODGE – Local and state law enforcement is investigating gunfire in Fort Dodge that sent to male subjects to a hospital with injuries.

According to Fort Dodge police, on June 9, 2015 at around 2:05 AM, officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department were dispatched to the area west of 5th Ave. N. and 10th Street in reference to a number of reports of individuals hearing gun fire. Officers responded to the area and were unable to locate where the shots were coming from. While officers continued to canvas the area, a call came into the communications center from Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center advising that two males had just arrived to the emergency room with gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Joseph Guillen of Fort Dodge, was transported to Des Moines by life flight. His condition is unknown. The second victim, a 15-year-old whose name is not being released at this time, sustained a non-life threatening wound to his hand.

No arrests have been made at this time as the Fort Dodge Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continue to follow up on leads.

Police said they belive that this is an isolated incident in which persons involved are at least moderately aquainted with each other.
