MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was found guilty Monday of violating her probation in an assault case and sent to jail for a week.
Ashley Phyllis Ashby, age 27, ws given probation two years ago in an assault case in which she was charged by Mason City police. She was accused in December of 2014 of violating that probation, and was wanted on a warrant for months before she turned herself in in March. She was soon released again as she awaited a court date.
On June 8, Judge Annette Boehlje found Ashby guilty of violating her probation and sentenced her to a week in jail. Ashby is now in the county jail, serving her sentence. She still owes Iowa courts the entire $1,106.56 in fines and court fees she was ordered to pay.
Ashby has previous convictions for driving while barred (habitual offender) and disorderly conduct.
Behaving as a responsible citizen in a civilized society is asking too much for some people.
What a fine citizen this import is.
