ANKENY – A Mason City man was arrested in a Des Moines suburb after allegedly leading law enforcement on a high speed, intoxicated car chase before abandoning his car and fleeing on foot.
According to KCCI TV, 22-year-old Timothy Bartholomew was the suspect that led law enforcement on a chase Sunday reaching speeds above 100 miles per hour on Interstate 35 in the Ankeny / Des Moines area. KCCI reported that police told them that a domestic situation between Bartholomew and his girlfriend was being investigated when officers attempted to pull his over in his 2003 Lincoln Town Car, but he refused to stop and fled northbound on I-35. Reportedly, Bartholomew was highly intoxicated and swerving around other drivers as police pursued. Soon thereafter, he abandoned his car and fled on foot. He was caught and arrested at an Elkhart, Iowa residence.
Bartholomew was charged with operating while intoxicated and eluding and booked into the Polk County Jail. He was released Monday after posting bond.
