Minneapolis cops chase driver through city

MINNEAPOLIS – One person was hospitalized after a car chase through Minneapolis early Sunday morning.

On March 22, 2015 just after 2:15 am, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct were on routine patrol in the area of 28th and Bloomington when they observed a red VW vehicle traveling southbound on Bloomington at an exceptionally high rate of speed. Officers observed the vehicle to be weaving back and forth in it’s own lane of travel. Officers got behind the suspect vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

The suspect vehicle continued at the high rate of speed and failed to pull over.

The suspect vehicle failed to obey numerous stop signs and continued at a high rate of speed making evasive maneuvers.

Officers caught up with the vehicle after it crashed into another vehicle in the area of 11th and Lake Street East. The driver fled on foot but was captured a short time later and has been booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center for outstanding warrants and Probable Cause detainers for DWI, Flee, Hit and Run, Personal Injury. The driver of the vehicle that had been struck was taken to HCMC with non-life threatening injuries.

MSP was contacted to reconstruct the crash.
