Wanted man and other subjects arrested in shooting death of Marshalltown man

MARSHALLTOWN – Additional arrests have been made in the Marshalltown death investigation from this past weekend, where a man was gunned down.

According to the Marshalltown Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Marshalltown police were called to a residence to investigate a shooting at about 11:11 PM Saturday, January 17. Upon arrival at 1203 West Church Street, officers encountered 20-year-old Dedrikk Montrell Fisher of Marshalltown who had suffered a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he soon died from his injuries.

In the aftermath of the shooting, police sought a male suspect, 19-year-old Jose Enrique Morales. He was caught on January 21 at a Marshalltown residence during a routine check. He is charged with murder in the first degree.

Also arrested at the same residence on January 21 was 26-year-old Brittany Leigh Brant of harboring Morales and endangering a child in the process. Also arrested was 26-year-old Francisco Padilla-Galvez for aiding Morales in avoiding police.

Also that same day, at a residence in Nevada, Iowa, a handgun possibly used in the crime was seized.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) assisted the Marshalltown Police Department with the investigation, which remains on-going.
