Iowa woman seriously injured after car wraps around power pole

INDEPENDENCE – An Iowa woman’s car skidded off a highway, crashing into a utility police sideways and sending her to the hospital.

On Saturday, January 03, 2015 at approximately 10:00 AM, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the 1700 blk 220th Street west of Independence. According to the investigation, a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix operated by Tiffany Anfinson of Independence was traveling west on 220th Street when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the north ditch, striking a utility pole in the driver’s side door.

Anfinson was extricated from her vehicle by fire fighters and EMS personnel and transported to the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. She was subsequently transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with serious injuries.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Independence Fire Department and Area Ambulance Service.
