Drugs found during North End traffic stop

MASON CITY – A Mason City man was jailed after a deputy discovered illegal drugs during a traffic stop.

Johney Thomas Rhem, age 20, was stopped by a Cerro Gordo deputy on November 26 at about 10:45 AM near 14th Street NE and Jersey Avenue. During the traffic stop, the deputy discovered that Rhem is a suspended driver. The deputy also detected the presence of the illegal narcotic marijuana.

Rhem was arrested and jailed for driving under suspension and possession of marijuana. He is still be ing held on $1,000 cash bond.

  1. On his way to becoming like his uncle, Bubba. On another note, when did marijuana become a narcotic. Alcohol was once considered a narcotic, which I’m thinking has a much worse effect on people.

    1. @Allen-Marijuana has always been considered a narcotic because it is mind altering. If you don’t believe that just read Philospus comments. It is illegal to posses or use in Iowa without a prescription. So, these people want to be stupid and ruin their lives just to get high.

    2. Bottom line: I can get really high at 11am and by 2pm I’m ready to continue on the day. Alco-sh** would render me sick the rest of the night, passing out and suffering a hangover for next 2-3 days. There’s no comparison. Alcohol is crap poison.
