WEST UNION – A man who was arrested 5 years ago for drug possession and then proceeded to lie to police about his identity before being released was finally caught and brought to jail.
Fayette county police said that on June 30, 2014, 30-year-old Christopher Michael Hale of Los Cruces, New Mexico was arrested by Dallas County Authorities on a Fayette County warrant for forgery, interference with official acts, and possession of controlled substance (marijuana). Charges stem following a September 2009 arrest where Christopher Michael Hale was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy and he was found to be in possession of marijuana. During the traffic stop, Hale used a false name and he was arrested and taken to jail on the misdemeanor charge of possession of controlled substance. While in jail, Hale forged court documents using the same false name and was released after posting a $1,000.00 bond. In December of 2009, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received information that Christopher Hale was not the person he claimed to be and an investigation was initiated with the assistance of the FBI and New Mexico authorities. Christopher Hale was positively identified and a warrant was issued on a charge of forgery. Hale is now being held in the Fayette County jail on $25,000.00 bond. He awaits a July 14, 2014 hearing.
