Press conference to be held in Cedar Rapids against Paul Ryan’s budget

DES MOINES – Progress Iowa will hold a press conference in advance of Congressman Paul Ryan’s appearance at the Republican Party of Iowa’s Lincoln Day Dinner tomorrow, April 11th, in Cedar Rapids. Congressman Ryan released his signature Ryan Budget last week that would put middle and working class families at risk by ending Medicare as we know it and cutting taxes for the wealthy while raising taxes on the middle class. At tomorrow’s press conference, speakers from Progress Iowa and the Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans will detail how Ryan’s policies are dangerous for Iowa and the entire country.

“Paul Ryan’s anti-middle class budget would cost our country 3 million jobs, which would be like firing the entire population of the state of Iowa,” said Matt Sinovic, executive director of Progress Iowa. “Ryan’s proposed budget is reckless and dangerous, would end Medicare as we know it, and give massive tax cuts for the wealthiest while raising taxes on middle and working class families. We’re disappointed that anyone in Iowa would invite Paul Ryan to our state and stand by his side when he clearly doesn’t value working class families.”
