I don’t think people realize how costly it is to prosecute “The War On Drugs”. Just to call in a potential jury costs around $3000 a day. Then another $1500 a day for the trial. If these drugs were just available at Walgreens, the State would not only save hundreds of millions of dollars, they would begin making hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s very costly to attempt to take this “moral high ground”. Look at the reality of this…the guns are undoubtedly associated with the “criminal enterprise” of this operation…and if the criminality element were removed you’d just be left with a glorified Red Bull drug that makes people feel groovy for ten hours.
In the long run not only will the State save and make money, but people will tire of the drugs, and they will more easily seek treatment if they have a problem with them. Prohibition doesn’t work and never will. The more people who are caught with drugs who request Jury Trials, the quicker the State will go bankrupt and this ridiculous war against drugs will end. REQUEST JURY TRIALS. END THE WAR ON DRUGS.
And you wouldn’t mind having these “groovy”feeling people being behind a wheel of a car or semi heading towards you. Or work on your car, house, or on you?.you said it lasts for 10 hrs ….solo when will they work??? Or would they just become legal leaches on society while other responsible adults will pick up their slack???
So how many hours are people away on fishing or hunting expeditions or a day out on the lake boating or swimming? If people want to plan for and take an LSD or Ecstacy Trip in their spare time, that’s up to them…not you. The same admonitions that apply to alcohol or prescription medication and driving would apply to drugs such as LSD, Ecstacy, Methamphetamine, or Cocaine. You aren’t supposed to drive while on sleeping medications like Lunesta are you? No, yet those drugs remain legal. Your arguments are weak, and easily refuted.
and you wonder why you were not picked for the jury, your obvious bias for drugs is very apparent.
@Philly-and all you see are the drug charges. We are not talking about some pot here. Ecstasy is not a mild drug, it is a very hard drug. You are ignoring all of the other charges like felon in possession of a fire arm. Possession with intent to deliver (that means he is a damn dealer). You are blind to all crimes and your mind is so fried by drugs you have no idea what you are doing. It is a obvious bias for drugs and if you ever do get picked for a jury they will throw the verdict out. I seriously doubt they will ever let someone like you on a jury.
LVS, I don’t know these particular people, this is true. They may very well be up-to-no-good people. However, break this apart: Don’t you support the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms? Why wouldn’t you look at this as an infringement on that right? You pick and choose what bothers you. Maybe this guy (and of course I don’t know for sure) just thinks it’s bullshit that his rights to protect himself are stripped away by an UnConstitutional law banning felons from possessing firearms. In fact, I remember reading that you didn’t understand why a person who has paid their debt to society shouldn’t get their rights to arms and vote be restored to them. Remember that? I do.
Face it…they are black, and that’s what bothers you. You don’t feel black people should be entitled to the same rights as white people.
@Philly-That is BULL SHIT and you know it. I don’t care what color their skin is. If they are a criminal and break our laws then they should be arrested plain and simple. He was a FELON in possession of a firearm and that is a violation of the law and he knew it. n he also had ILLEGAL DRUGS in his possession and he knew it. Unfortunately, the blacks by percentage have more criminals than other people but don’t you even try to accuse me of being prejudiced against blacks. You are the one who is biased against all laws and authority and that is why you will never sit on a jury.
You never addressed your belief that “once a person pays his debt to society and is released from prison or parole or probation he should have all his rights immediately restored”. You said that. Now stand and back it. Doesn’t apply when it’s a black man does it LVS?
If they apply and are approved it is fine with me and I don’t care what color they are. If the are current felons and the law says they can’t own one then they are criminals and should be prosecuted. And, I don’t care what color they are. That goes for Greeks too. Does that answer your question?
A crude ignorant man such as yourself would never be allowed into the Greek Civilization…you would be cosmically restricted from ever entering into our DNA pool.
Now that sounds like discrimination.
@Philly-what a worthless, dumb a## you really are.
LVS, buy yourself some toilet paper would ya? Or at least use a sponge. And for god’s sake if you insist on using your hand…sanitize it with hot water and bleach.
It’s spelled “leeches” dumbass. Put it on a hook and catch a “walleye” IMBECILE.
Or “dumbass” he could have really meant leaches.
Leaches:verb (used with object) 1. to dissolve out soluble constituents from (ashes, soil, etc.) by percolation. 2. to cause (water or other liquid) to percolate through
I don’t know if I should be flattered , or concerned, that the only thing about this article and its discussion that ruffled your feathers, was one misspelled word. ;). Happy fishing.
