MASON CITY – Cerro Gordo deputies backed up Mason City police as they responded to a local watering hole to put down a fight between two men early this morning.

According to a report, police responded to the Sidewinder Bar, 810 South Penn Avenue, at about 1:34 AM due to an altercation. Deputies reported that Mason City police “had everything under control” when they arrived.  Eight MCPD officers were involved with the call.

Matthew Mark Demaris, age 26, was arrested for disorderly conduct, interference with official acts and public intoxication. Joshua James Martin, age 30, was arrested for disorderly conduct, interference with official acts and public intoxication.

According to a person who was at the scene, one of the men refused to produce identification when a police officer requested it, then demanded that the officer call in a sergeant to the scene as he “repeatedly” told the officer to “FO.”

“I could tell he was looking for trouble,” when he entered the bar, a source said.  “Bout 2 hours later, he found it. Big time.”

Both subjects were soon released on bond.
