Woman who drove drunk and crashed car, injuring 5, sentenced after guilty plea

MASON CITY – A woman who drove drunk last year and then crashed her car, injuring five people, has plead guilty to two felonies and third offense operating while intoxicated and has been sentenced to prison.

According to records, Robin Danielle Jenks, age 40, plead guilty in November to felony d child endangerment causing injury, felony D serious injury by vehicle, and operating while intoxicated third offense.  In court on Monday, January 13th, 2014, Judge Colleen Weiland announced sentencing.

Jenks was sentenced to 5 years in prison on all counts, with two of the sentences to run consecutively. She was fined $3,125 for the OWI offense plus other court costs, bringing her total owed to Iowa courts to $5,215.85.

Two felony charges of child endangerment were dropped in exchange for the guilty plea.

Jenks is now being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail, awaiting transport to prison.

Another woman involved in the crash, 30-year-old Magaret Brown, was found guilty to felony D child endangerment resulting in bodily injury on October 25, 2013.  She is now awaiting sentencing on February 3, 2014.
