No. 11 Iowa State cruises past Texas Tech, 74-48

logo_iowa_state_cyclonesAMES, Iowa – The No. 11 Iowa State women’s basketball team (14-0, 2-0 Big 12) continued its undefeated season with a 74-48 rout of Texas Tech (6-8, 0-3 Big 12) in the Big 12 home opener Wednesday night at Hilton Coliseum. Hallie Christofferson led Iowa State on the court with 22 points, 17 of which came in the first half, five rebounds and three blocks as the Cyclones extended its school records for best start to a season and longest winning streak in program history.

The Cyclones and Lady Raiders both came out to a slow start, but senior Hallie Christofferson got things started for Iowa State when she went on a 7-0 run over her own to give the Cyclones an 11-5 lead with 12:45 remaining. ISU began to pull away with a 17-point first-half performance by Christofferson, who made her 100th career start and 59th-consecutive.

ISU would enter the half with a 37-16 lead, with Tech’s 16-point output being the fewest allowed by Iowa State this season.

In the second half, the Cyclones would continue the rout of the Lady Raiders growing as much as a 32-point lead in the second-half, 73-41, after three free-throw makes by Brynn Williamson.

Hallie Christofferson got the Cyclones going in the first half with 17-first half points. At one point in the half, she was 6-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line, giving the Cyclones a 21-point halftime lead, 37-16.

Christofferson would net her 23rd 20-point performance of her career and ninth of the season finishing the night with 22 points, five rebounds, three blocks and one assist.
