U.S. Border Patrol Arrests Convicted Felon

Buffalo, N.Y. – U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two citizens of Mexico with criminal histories. One of the individuals has multiple felony convictions and had previously been removed from the U.S.

On Wednesday, July 31, agents from the Buffalo Station encountered two individuals during patrols in the area of the international border in Hamburg, N.Y. After an interview with the individuals, agents determined that both suspects were illegally in the United States.

Record checks at the station revealed that both suspects had criminal convictions in the United States. One of the suspects had an active arrest warrant, had been convicted on multiple counts of felony theft, and had previously been removed from the United States. For his crimes, the suspect was sentenced to eight years of probation, ten years in prison and removed from the U.S. in 2009.

Due to his criminal convictions and previous removal, the suspect is charged with illegal reentry into the United States and faces up to twenty years in prison. The other suspect will appear before an immigration judge to determine his eligibility to remain in the United States.
