State Patrol Continues Investigation Into Saturday Fatality Crash

Mapleton, IOWA — On Saturday, April 20, 2013, a single vehicle collision occurred at approximately 1:00 AM on Highway 141, east of Pecan Avenue NW in Mapelton, Iowa (Monona County). The collision involved a 2004 Ford F250 Pickup.

At the time of the crash, the pickup was traveling east on Highway 141. The vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the road, leaving the roadway and rolling into the ditch.

Fifty-nine year old Albert Butler and 44 year old Judith Krohn were occupants in the pickup. Both occupants were transported to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City. Albert Butler died of injuries sustained in the crash. Judith Krohn was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

At this time the Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the crash, working to determine the identity of the driver. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
