U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a McLaughlin man charged with sexual abuse of a child was sentenced on November 26, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Bradley Speker, age 53, was sentenced to 20 years in custody, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.

Speker was indicted for aggravated sexual abuse of a child by a federal grand jury on May 8, 2012. The crime involved an incident that occurred between January 1, 2010 and January 1, 2012, when Speker engaged in a sexual act with a child who had not attained the age of 12. On August 28, 2012, Speker pled guilty to the offense.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikal G. Hanson prosecuted the case.

Speker was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
